Corporate catering Melbourne is a crowded place. Many companies look for a caterer that can fulfil certain requirements. For the basic, you can take your pick of hundreds of providers. For something special, you should look a little closer at the options. Work parties Melbourne have never been this exciting!
If you are saying a big ‘thank you’ to your team then what you want is something memorable. You know, the kind of thing people are still talking about years and years later. When it comes to corporate catering in Melbourne, there really is only one choice. As a pure spectacle, Flying Woks are the go-to guys. They create theatre as much as they create amazing food. For the ultimate in work parties Melbourne you should seriously look at what Flying Woks have to offer.

  • Launching a new company
  • A work party for your team
  • Thanking your top performers

  • Xmas Party for staff
And any other occasion for that matter. The way that Flying Woks deliver something that lives in the memory forever means that you are always on to a winner. The people who experience the amazing spectacle will talk about your company in positive terms for days, weeks, months and years.

Work Parties In Melbourne
A work party is the event of the year. Your team will look forward to this all year long. We all know the time and attention each and every one of your team will put into their outfit, their makeup and how they will arrive. From there, the good times roll, and everyone has a great time.
Repay their attention to detail with some of your own. Rather than book any old caterer. Think about what would go that extra mile. Think about what special looks like. Give them something special with Flying Woks. Whether you are a small team or a huge corporation, Flying Woks are here to help you celebrate.

What To Consider When Booking Corporate Catering In Melbourne
Getting corporate catering right can be a minefield. You will likely by paying a good amount of money for the privilege of having someone cook for you and your guests. Think about all of the elements that come together to ensure it is value for money –
What is the objective of your event? If you know what you want to achieve then you are a big step in the right direction. For example, work parties for staff  have a different feel to corporate events for clients. Talk to your chosen corporate caterer in Melbourne to make sure they recognise the difference and understand your goals.
Get input from the team. Making a decision like this can be easier with the input from members of the team., They have their own ideas about what makes a successful work party or corporate event. Involving your team keeps them motivated and inspired. And there’s so many positives in that. Gaining the input of others can help come to a consensus.
Speak to more than one caterer. This is an important decision. Don’t leave it to chance. Putting in the research at the outset means your  work party or corporate event will go off with a bang – not with a whimper. Speak to 2 or 3 catering companies to ensure they deliver what you want. Here at Flying Woks we are more than happy to talk to you about your ideas. You’ll find that we have a wide menu choice that you will love.  We are truly local too, knowing the style and nuances that Melbourne clients expect.
Ask the most important question. When it boils down to it, there is a certain amount of money in the budget for any corporate event. Don’t forget to ask the catering companies you speak to about their prices. You will find corporate catering in Melbourne a competitive market with many choices and numerous price points. Look for the one that works for you.
Corporate Catering in Melbourne And You
And now it comes down to a simple choice. What works for you. Whether this is one of the work parties that will be remembered and talked about for decades, or a corporate event that hits the headlines and goes viral, Flying Woks are here to help you.

Party Planning. Why You Should Hire A Caterer.

You don’t need another reason to stress over your party, it’s time to hire a caterer.

Parties are great. Great music, great people, and great food all make for a great time. Especially the food.

Though if you’re the one planning the party, your case may be different.

There are tons of moving parts when it comes to hosting a party. There’s the guest list, venue, budget, music, and most importantly food.

Who should we invite? Becky from accounting? But not her boyfriend? Live music or a DJ? What’s hip these days anyway? How do you get more bang for your buck?

Well, take one thing off your plate and hire a caterer.

“But I can handle it! I can cook for 200 people easily!” you think.

Just read these 7 reasons to hire a caterer and then tell us what you think.

1.  No one goes hungry.
The last thing you want to happen at a party is for someone to go hungry.

“Is there any more food?” your nephew asks in your nightmare. “There is none left,” you reply.

Fortunately, this is the real world and not all the stress from party planning coming out in your nightmares.

By hiring a caterer, be assured that everyone will be fed. Someone else is making sure that happens.

2.  It’s professional quality.
You’re no amateur.  This ain’t your first rodeo. You know your stuff. Let the food speak for you.

Caterers are professionals. Therefore, you can rest assured that your food reflects your reputation.

3.  It’s a team effort.
If not being a part of the process is what you’re worried about, don’t.

Working with a caterer is a collaborative experience.

Well, how do you accommodate everyone’s preferences and dietary restrictions?

Make sure the caterer works for you not against you. A good caterer can make sure their food is coeliac, vegan, dairy-free, fructose free, halal and nut-free.

4.  The caterer is in charge of the service.
Stop worrying about serving your guests cold chicken by accident. That’s the caterer’s job.

Caterers will help make sure your guests are enjoying themselves, the party, and the food you personally picked out for them to enjoy.

Some caterers will just deliver the food ready to go or take over your kitchen and make a great mess. Then there are mobile caterers who cook from their van or set up a mobile kitchen in your back yard!

This is where I plug our uniqueness; in addition to serving awesome food, part of our service (Flying Woks) is to entertain cooking before your guests’ very eyes.

Uncle Ben won’t be able to stop talking about it for the next month.

5.  The caterers worry about the little things.
From allergies to preferences to critique. Let the caterers worry about it.

The last thing you need to worry about is Cindy’s new diet fad or the fact that your niece is a hardcore vegan now.

This day isn’t about that, it’s about anything but worrying about people’s allergies or preferences.

Let someone else worry about it.
6.  Make a statement
Although everyone knows you care already, prove it.
Hiring a professional caterer shows that you’re not messing around. This is an event you care about. You’re putting the effort in.
You’re setting an example.

However, if you want to interpret what it means to hire a caterer, generally, it means that you’re making a statement.

The type of catering you select and the way it is presented will be viewed by your guests as an extension of your personality.

7.  Stay in the moment.
Parties are special moments. They’re supposed to be joyful occasions. Bask in the joy.
Don’t worry about food. Don’t worry about the service.
Don’t worry about anything.

Stay in the moment by knowing you have a team backing you.

Cooking Outside on Total Fire Ban Day - Can I or Cant I ?

3/12/2016

Total_Fire_Ban_Catering
Fortunately as we go into our crazee silly season, our CFA permit just arrived allowing us to cook on a Total Fire Ban Day, of course abiding by all terms and conditions.

I remember early this year we were catering up in Bendigo for 400 students and,  as we were driving up the highway we found out that it was a Total Fire Ban Day.

There were half a dozen caterers all involved so we had to visit the local CFA and get some permits in order. Everything got sorted just in the nick of time for the hungry students, who enjoyed some Pad Gretium Prik & Tom Yum Vegetarian, with other caterers delicacies, all served in scorchingsummer  heat!  Bring it on!

Sure you have probably wandered through the night markets on offer in Bangkok,  Marrakech or Kuta but Melbourne has its own Hawkers thing happening with both summer and winter markets on offer.

Our climate is perfect to get out and about at night time, in summer you can find lighter snacks, organic juices and refreshing gelato and winter there is hearty soups, Moroccan tagines and much more on offer.

Over the years  I have catered at some of these markets, they have their own unique vibe and it really is fun to be part of it all.  There is a real comradere between the stall holders, who we may only see once to twice a year, and we all have customers who come back for their favourite dishes year after year, sometimes introducing more and more fans to each unique caterer.

I’d mix up our wok tossed noodled options to see what was popular each week though the Pad Thai fans would be up in arms when their favourite dish was swapped for Black Peppered Calamari or Lemongrass Mie Goreng. So what evolved was the attempt to cook as many different options possible to keep all the punters happy in a very short period of time!

These days we specialize in private and corporate catering though occasionally we fill the calendar with a public event for a little extra dosh or just for fun.

I have listed here some of my favourites,  they are all special in their own unique way.

If you can suggest any I have missed please let us know.

1)   Queen Vic Summer Night Market - Wednesday Nights November  4 to March 30
I love this market, as a stallholder for many years I saw this Night Market explode in popularity. I am not catering there any more but still direct overseas friends here because its vibe is superb.

2)   Night Noodle Market - Every Night November 17 - November 29
This market is awesome with good quality food from some very reputable restaurants such as Fred & Ginger  and Chin Chin.
Friends tell me I have to get there both as a punter and stall holder if only time would allow.

3)   South Melbourne Night Market - Thursday Nights, January 14 to March 3
Well established popular and relaxed with some classic options including South Melbourne’s famous Steamed Dim Sims. What more needs to be said?

4)   Supper Market – Abbotsford - Friday Nights, December  4 to March 11
Now in it s 6th year this Twilight Night is relaxed with great food, music and plenty of tables and chairs to sit in the historic grounds of the Abbotsford Convent.

5)    Chinatown Night Market - 3rd Friday of Each Month
On  3rd Friday Every Month  for authentic Hawkers style food in Melbourne’s oldest and most establish Chinatown precinct.
6)   St Kilda Twilight Market- Thursday Nights, December to February
With a great beach feel and attracting the local backpackers for a good cheap feed, this market is eclectic and reflects St Kilda’s vibrancy and vibe. Located next to St Kilda’s Lunar park and backing on to Acland St, its location is perfect.

7)   Queen Vic Winter Night Market Wednesday Nights, June 3 to August 26
Based on the classic Queen Vic Summer Night Market, the winter version is great, and certainly more manageable than the people packed Summer Version.  Same great cuisine and style, just a little fresher and heart warming

8)    Coburg Night Market - Friday Nights, November 27 to December 18
This market gets bigger and better. Managed now  by the local Moreland council and located in the delightful Bridges Reserve. Take tram number 19 down Sydney Rd too Bells St and your there!

Here are a few more options on offer, all are worth checking out.

9)    Torquay Night Market - my local market is a big hit down here.
10)   Food Truck Festival - a newbie at the Coburg Drive-in sounds fun.
11)    Winter Soltice Festival - with an impressive bonfire this Festival at Montsalvat is truly special.
12)    White Night Festival - an iconic Melbourne event that brings the city alive for 24 hours.
13)   Geelong Night Market - in the heart of Geelong in beautiful grounds of Johnstone Park with great music too.
