Job vacancy Food & Beverage Manager (5-month contract with view towards long-term employment)
Flying Woks (Aust.) Pty Ltd has an enviable reputation as Melbournes unique, on-show, theatrical catering experience. They are currently seeking a highly motivated and innovative hospitality professional to join their successful, niche business.
JOB DESCRIPTION 1) Function Management Attending and hosting catering functions, including liaising with clients and Flying Woks staff, ensuring the overall success and smooth running of catering events.
2) Kitchen Management Overseeing and undertaking tasks involved in the effective running of the kitchen and warehouse, such as management of stock and staff, and controlling costs.
3) Office Administration Working alongside administration staff, including answering phones, liaising with customers and suppliers, responding to enquiries and securing bookings.
The Food and Beverage Manager position provides an exciting opportunity to improve the operations of this unique and exciting business and is integral to the ongoing success and expansion of the company.
The chosen candidate will have existing relevant experience in the Australian hospitality industry (chef, bar or event manager etc.) and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants will need to demonstrate a genuine appreciation and love of quality food production as well as a talent for liaising with and serving a broad range of clientele. The position comprises a range of office, kitchen and on-site duties, and the successful candidate will need to be flexible, adaptable and creative, as well as physically fit.
The selected Food and Beverage Manager will be passionate about their role and have a willingness and an ability to make an innovative and productive contribution to the ongoing success and development of the business. They will be affable, professional, dynamic and ambitious, priding themselves on their fastidious nature, their exemplary inter-personal skills and their ability to act as a genuine ambassador for Flying Woks.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Computer Skills Word, Excel, Email Costing and Food Order Skills Australian Drivers License Kitchen experience, such as a qualified chef, or comparative catering, or hospitality experience. RSA Certificate
TERMS OF CONTRACT 5 months commencing October 29, 2007 until March 30, 2008.
Flying Woks will consider offering a long-term contract to the employee that proves themselves worthy of the opportunities and responsibilities that this position provides.
HOURS 38 flexible-hour weeks, determined by functions booked. A sample week may include (but is not restricted to): Mon - Day Off Tues - Office Work 9 5 pm Wed - Office Work 9 5 pm Thur - Kitchen 10 6 pm Fri - Attending Function 2 10 pm Sat - Attending Function 3 11 pm Sun - Day Off
SALARY The successful candidate will be offered terms of employment as per the Catering Victoria Award 1998 Level 5 - Food & Beverage Supervisor (AP772681 - VIC) (Approx 45k per annum.)
